The Study of Geopolitics and Recent Developments in Afghanistan (Its Effects on the Security of the Islamic Republic of Iran)

Understanding geopolitical codes is one of the factors that politicians of any government should try to identify, so that they can use the appropriate strategy to establish a strong diplomatic relationship with other countries. In this regard, using descriptive method, first the factors affecting the geopolitics of Afghanistan have been identified, and then the situation of this country has been studied based on these factors. Then, using library studies, related geopolitical factors in Afghanistan, which will affect the geopolitics of Iran, has been identified and studied. Iran has been an influential element in Afghanistan for the past three decades. The historical and cultural ties between the two countries are also evident to everyone. Iran's strategic environment is such that Afghanistan has become one of the most important links in this environment. In this study, attempts were made to analyze the main sources of political-security tensions in Iran-Afghanistan relations, especially after the withdrawal of extra-regional forces, especially the US military, as well as the Taliban's domination of this country.
